Job Description:

Operations DA Projects team is actively seeking a Project Manager to lead, manage and deliver System and Customer transmission interconnection projects. This team is at the forefront of the Alberta economy, working with the AESO, Distribution Facility Owners, Industrial Partners, Generation Customers (Gas, Wind and Solar), and Emerging Technologies to grow the Alberta economy.

As a DA Projects Project Manager you will lead a project team, including internal stakeholders encompassing all aspects of AltaLink’s business, and  lead a variety of external suppliers to deliver successful project outcomes. In addition, a DA Projects Project Manager is an essential component of AltaLink’s Safety and Environmental respect culture, and Customer Service strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of System and Customer Projects. This position will be of interest to anyone interested in joining a fast-paced, dynamic team, who is looking for the opportunity of leading projects for a vast array of diverse Customers.
 
This is a full-time position, based out of the Calgary office, and will report to the Mgr, DA Projects Delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively lead projects within a matrix organization from detailed design through procurement and construction to energization and project close-out; this includes building, managing, and leading project teams. 
• Represent AltaLink with the AESO and external Customers, providing exceptional Customer Service to both, exceeding their high expectations, and consistently meeting required project deliverables.
• Communicate effectively with project team, Sr. Leadership, Customers and Regulators, this includes informal and formal written communication, formal presentations, leading effective meetings and informal project conversations.
• Manage overall project cost, quality, scope and schedule to meet project objectives , identify project risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies, and effectively and efficiently close-out projects.
• Deliver required project documentation through AltaLink’s project governance process to meet AltaLink’s regulatory strategy.
• Effectively and accurately report project status, costs, schedule, changes, and risks to the AESO, Customers, and AltaLink Management.
• Lead and manage external suppliers responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, environment, land, and construction activities.
• Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars – one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.

Requirements

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and qualifies for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Engineers & Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA);
• 5 plus years of proven project management experience
• Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities
• A strong commitment to integrity, teamwork and safety
• An active facilitator and problem-solver, with a high-degree of flexibility and proven
  diplomacy and negotiation skills with all levels of an organization
• Time management skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate work effectively and
  efficiently
• A customer service mindset that is proactive in exceeding internal and external Customer needs and expectations
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, with conflicting priorities
• Strong time management skills are essential
• Proven track record of good attendance and performance

The following would be an asset:

• Experience with the applicable electrical utility legislation, regulations and the AESO Tariff
• Project Management Professional certification would be an asset
• Proven track record of good attendance and performance
• Experience with SAP and P6 Primavera would be an asset
• Fluency with Microsoft tools and MS Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables)
