Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, CRU Project Support, the Project Governance Analyst supports the Capital Projects department by ensuring the consistent application of AltaLink’s governance framework across the project portfolio. This role is responsible for reviewing project documentation for compliance, coordinating stage-gate reviews, maintaining accurate portfolio data, and producing high-quality dashboards and performance reports to support effective monitoring and decision-making. The position also supports regulatory filings by helping ensure project information is accurate, complete, and aligned with governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements, including support for Information Request responses.

Responsibilities:

Project Governance:

  • Support consistent execution of AltaLink’s stage-gate processes across all active projects.
  • Review project documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Schedule and facilitate stage-gates and review meetings with project teams and leadership.
  • Support preparation of gate review packages, summaries, and decision-support materials.
  • Track project status, milestones, risks, deliverables, and lessons learned through each stage.
  • Monitor and follow up on stage-gate actions and approval conditions.
  • Identify gaps or issues that may impact gate approvals.
  • Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars

– one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.

Portfolio Management & Reporting:

  • Maintain and update the project governance database.
  • Develop dashboards and recurring reports on governance and compliance.
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs, trends, and performance metrics across projects.
  • Translate data analysis into actionable insights for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across project management and analytics functions.

Regulatory & ISO Reporting:

  • Coordinate monthly system project progress reporting to the AESO.
  • Collect, validate, and organize project data to support regulatory filings.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of regulatory submissions, ensuing alignment with governance and compliance standards.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of project analysis, coordination, governance, or related experience in a project-based environment.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in reporting and visualization tools.
  • Understanding of project lifecycles and delivery models, with a strong focus on governance and stage gate controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Effective time management, organizational, and project coordination skills, with a high level of awareness concerning the relationship of work scope, time and resources.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring quality, accuracy, and completeness of documentation deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills while exercising sound judgment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated active listening skills.
  • A self-motivated individual with strong initiative, and the ability to multi-task and adapt and pivot quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate and Finance & Project System SAP modules an asset.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes.
  • Proven track record of good attendance and performance.
