Description

Scottish Line Painting Ltd. is hiring a Thermoplastic Foreman to support and grow our thermoplastic operations.

This is a hands-on, field-based role - This role will be a night shift role. Please do not apply if you are unwilling to work nights. You’ll be working closely with management to learn the full scope of the operation, with the goal of taking on increasing responsibility over the course of the season.

The Role

You will be responsible for learning and executing all aspects of thermoplastic road marking, including:

  • Reading and interpreting drawings
  • Laying out and applying road markings
  • Supporting and leading a crew on-site
  • Operating and troubleshooting equipment
  • Maintaining safety and quality standards

This role is best suited to someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in doing the job right.

Training & First Season Expectations

The first 5 months will be a training and probation period.

During this time, you will be expected to build capability across:

  • Layout and measurement accuracy
  • Equipment operation and troubleshooting
  • Crew communication and coordination
  • Productivity and job site execution

We are looking for steady progression — not perfection on day one, but clear growth over time.

Technical Expectations

Road Marking Layout

  • Accurately translate drawings into field layouts
  • Measure from curbs or survey points
  • Chalk, check, and adjust before application
  • Keep errors and rework to a minimum

Equipment

  • Learn to operate and troubleshoot:
    • Graco airless sprayers
    • Trantex thermoplastic carts
    • Graco Grindlazer
  • Understand basic maintenance and field repairs

Crew Leadership

  • Help direct the crew to complete work on time and to standard
  • Keep jobs moving efficiently
  • Address issues quickly and keep the team aligned

Licensing

  • Class 5 License.
  • Willingness to Complete Class 3 License and Air Brake certification

Benefits

Compensation & Details

  • $38.00/hour
  • Overtime and double time in accordance with union agreement
  • Paid bi-weekly

Winter Program

  • Minimum 80 hours per pay period made available
  • OT = 1.5x, DT = 2x toward hours
  • Schedule set by company directors

Vacation & Benefits

  • 12% vacation pay
  • 4 weeks winter vacation
    • 2 weeks over Christmas
    • 2 weeks scheduled with management
  • Union benefits (IUPAT DC 38)

Union Agreement

Employment is subject to the applicable collective agreement and company policies.
