Position: Structural Steel and Welding Supervisor

About Our Company

Black Arrow Construction is a Toronto-based construction company providing commercial and industrial construction services across Ontario since 2017. The company specializes in structural steel installation, welding, concrete forming, and reinforcing steel work.

We are seeking a Structural Steel and Welding Supervisor to oversee structural steel installation and welding activities on construction sites. This role ensures work quality, efficiency, and compliance with applicable standards, while supporting the coordination of daily site activities with team members and other trades.

This position involves a combination of structural steel installation experience, general welding knowledge, and supervisory skills to support the successful completion of construction projects.

Position Details

  • Location: 1090 Don Mills Rd, Suite 400A, North York, Ontario M3C 3R6
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Wage: $38.00 per hour
  • Benefits: Health and dental insurance, plus 2 weeks paid vacation

    • Job Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of construction workers and subcontractors involved in structural steel installation and welding work
  • Organize and schedule daily work activities and monitor progress to meet project timelines
  • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to guide work on site
  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements, including proper installation of structural components such as steel frameworks, beams, columns, mezzanines, stairs, guardrails, and connection plates
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable welding and construction standards
  • Coordinate with project teams, including engineers, site staff, and other trades, and assist in resolving on-site issues
  • Maintain site records, including daily reports and progress updates
  • Provide guidance and support to workers regarding structural installation procedures, welding practices, and safe work methods
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and company policies
  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions
  • Provide training to company-specific procedures and site protocols for new hires
    • Qualifications:

    Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary education in construction, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in structural steel installation, welding, or a related construction field
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role is preferred
  • Knowledge of structural steel installation methods and general welding practices
  • Experience with construction layout or surveying tools (e.g., Total Station) is an asset
  • Familiarity with construction drawings and experience with software such as AutoCAD or Revit is preferred
  • Familiarity with workplace health and safety regulations in Ontario
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills

    • Note: Orientation to company-specific procedures and site protocols will be provided to suitable candidate.

  • Experience with construction-related software (e.g., AutoCAD or Revit)
  • Experience with construction layout or surveying tools (e.g., Total Station)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., welding certification, safety training, or welding supervisor certification)
